Florida's humidity is relentless. If you've got stucco, you already know how fast green algae and dirt streaks can build up on the surface - especially around windows and on the lower sections of the wall. It happens gradually, so gradually that most homeowners don't even notice until it's pretty bad.
That's exactly what we were dealing with here. The stucco had heavy green algae growth concentrated around the window, with dark streaking running down toward the foundation. The window glass itself had a film of grime and biological buildup that made the whole exterior look tired and neglected - even though structurally everything was fine.
We used a soft wash approach on the stucco, which is the right call for this type of surface. High pressure on stucco can damage the texture and force water behind the material, which creates bigger problems down the road. Soft washing uses a low-pressure application with a cleaning solution that actually breaks down and kills the algae at the root, rather than just blasting it off temporarily. The windows got a full hand cleaning to bring the glass back to clear.
The difference is hard to miss. The stucco is back to its natural color, the streaking is gone, and the window trim is clean and bright again. It's one of those jobs where the result speaks for itself - the house just looks well cared for. No paint, no repairs, just a proper cleaning done the right way.
Stucco homes in Central Florida need this kind of attention more often than most people realize. The climate doesn't give you a break. When you stay on top of it, the exterior holds up better and the whole property looks sharper for longer.
